Here are 5 tips to help you have the best time on your next trip to Austin.
#1 BEST TIME TO VISIT
October is a very popular month to visit Austin, Texas because the temperatures have started to cool down and there are many popular festivals, including the Austin City Limits Music Festival, Austin Film Festival, and the Formula 1 US Grand Prix. March is another great month to visit where temperatures stay comfortably in the low 70s. The South by Southwest Music Festival occurs in March, so it’s a great time to go find your next new favorite band performs live. However, if you are not planning to visit one of these big events you might want to pick another time because hotels will be much more expensive and the city can be pretty chaotic. Austin is really a great city to visit any time of year, even in the hot Texas summers, you can easily cool off by jumping in one of the many lakes and engaging in watersport activities.
#2 AIRPORT TIPS
If you plan to drive to your departure airport, then we recommend reserving a parking spot in advance online. During peak travel season, the airport parking lots can reach capacity and close, leaving you to scramble to find another parking option. For example, if you are looking for DIA parking, there are many options to browse online, compare the prices, read reviews, and then easily book. You could have a parking spot reserved for you before you even leave your house. Austin has its own airport, the Austin-Bergstrom Airport, and there are many non-stop flights from all of the US. However, these flights can be more expensive than just flying into Houston, which is only 2 hours away. You can find great deals on plane tickets on a comparison site like Expedia.

#3 LOCAL FOOD & DRINKS
Austin has an awesome foodie scene, so there is no shortage of delicious options for you to try. Austin is most known for its barbecue, breakfast tacos, and Tex-Mex dishes. From fancy restaurants to quirky food trucks, the food is good wherever you go. There is also the nearby wine region of Texas Hill Country, which makes several world-renowned wines, and lots of incredible craft beer breweries. Check out our Austin Wet Bus for the brewery, wine, and distillery tours and one heck of a good time!
#4 WHAT TO DO
Check out our boat rentals for tons of great options to experience Austin. Rent a Pontoon Boat to relax and enjoy a smooth ride to soak in the beautiful scenery. You can also rent a Ski / Wake Boat if you want to experience the thrill of skiing, wakeboarding, wakesurfing, and tubing. Any boat is great for a cruise around the 21-miles of Lake Austin to see the mega-mansions and the beautiful Texas Hill Country. All our pontoon boats come with an Aqua Lily and Stand Up Paddleboard, so you can hang out at the 360 “Party Cove” and have a great time with lots of other like-minded people.

#5 WHAT TO PACK
Austin is known for its laid-back vibe and being unapologetically weird, so don’t worry too much about what to pack. As we said earlier, the weather stays pretty warm year-round, so be sure to pack lightweight clothes if you’re visiting March-October. If you’re joining us on the lake, don’t forget to bring a swimsuit, sunscreen, bug repellant, and a reusable water bottle.
